Rehema finds joy in daily meditation, chasing waterfalls, and playing with languages. Whether in her writing or her teaching, she is dedicated to making safe havens for nerdy creatives to thrive. Formerly, she was a high school principal in bustling Beijing. Now, she lives in rural Michigan where she runs the Keweenaw Learning Center and Hyacinth Publishing House.

Long Bio:

Rehema was born in Tanzania, raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and educated in Michigan, U.S.A. As an adult, she traveled to Asia, where she lived and worked for fifteen years. She has been writing stories and journaling since childhood. Wherever she goes, she always keeps a pen and notebook as her closest confidant.

After years of globetrotting, Rehema has settled in Hancock, Michigan, where she runs the Keweenaw Learning Center and Hyacinth Publishing House. She teaches middle school math through engaging hands-on activities, and she mentors young writers to craft their own stories to become the authors of their own lives.

In her free time, Rehema enjoys being in nature. She camps in her teardrop camper, hikes through the wilds, searches for waterfalls, plays in the water, and photographs beautiful things. She also travels around the U.S. and the world to be inspired by the diversity and charisma of humanity.

Rehema has a Ph.D. from Michigan Technological University in rhetoric with a specialty in writing education and English as a Foreign Language. She has taught for more than twenty years. She has worked as a middle school, high school, and college English writing instructor as well as an English Department Head. In Beijing, she prepared local students for enrollment in top international universities while serving as Academic Principal of Beijing Foreign Studies University’s International Curriculum Centre, a Cambridge University A-Level program.
